Michael Anthony Harvey (1921 – 2000)
Figurative painter, in oils, watercolours and pastels, journalist and art critic. He studied firstly at Epsom School of Art, 1948-50 and later at Wimbledon School of Art, 1955-57 where his tutors included R.O. Dunlop. He held solo exhibitions in London including one at the John Whibley Gallery and he also exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists. His work is represented in public private and corporate collections including Camden Council, East Sussex County Council and Johns Hopkins University, USA. Harvey was a member of the Chichester Art Society and Reigate Society of Artists and he was also a Council Member of the SGA. The year following his death saw a memorial shown at the Bourne Gallery, Reigate.
